Polish History Art Contest for Karnes County Students and Home School Students

RULES

Eligibility

Contest is open to all children grades K – 12 who are attending Karnes City ISD, Kenedy ISD, Runge ISD, & Falls City ISD and any home school student residing in Karnes Couty.

Requirements

  • Artwork must be an original work of the student, created by hand or camera.
  • Students must be currently enrolled in grades K – 12.
  • Artwork is limited to one entry per student.
  • Art can represent the following mediums: drawing and painting (i.e., pencil, charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, oil paints, acrylics) and original digital creations (which is limited to a photograph).
  • Each piece of Art must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian of the student. If a teacher is submitting a student’s artwork, you must include a signed permission form with the artwork. 

Submitting Entries

The Art Contest submission period begins March 11, 2024 and concludes on April 5, 2024 at  1:00pm.  We are asking schools and parents to submit one entry per student.  If you are a teacher who would like to submit a student’s artwork, you may do so. However, you will need to have a parent/guardian complete and include the signed form when submitting art work.

Criteria

Entries will be evaluated based on originalityinterpretation of subject matter/theme, creative techniquescomposition, and overall art appearance.

Judging

Contest officials will select the top submissions from each grade and present them to a panel of five judges. Those judges will make selections based on the above-mentioned criteria to determine which pieces will be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in each grade level.

Submission Terms & Agreement

When submitting artwork, you must agree to the following terms and conditions. They have been listed here for your convenience but are also available for review when you submit artwork.

I certify that the submission, including text and illustrations, and any ancillary material were made by the Applicant indicated, and were not copied from another work, photograph, illustration, or website, nor made by another.   I represent that this submission does not infringe any third party intellectual property rights, nor does it contain any material that is defamatory, vulgar, or otherwise inappropriate.  I understand that the submission, including text and illustrations, and any ancillary material will become the property of the Polish Heritage Center at Panna Maria.  I give permission to the Polish Heritage Center to use, reproduce, prepare derivative works, publish, distribute copies to the public, perform publicly, and display publicly the submission, including text and illustrations, and any ancillary material, including but not limited to, Applicant’s name, school, grade/level of study, and any photographs and/or videos containing the Applicant’s image and/or voice, for all purposes deemed appropriate by the PHC.  The Polish Heritage Center may distribute the submission, including text and illustrations, and any ancillary material through a variety of media, including but not limited to print, television, websites, or any other means. The PHC may also permit a third party to exercise PHC’s rights, including but not limited to the right to display or distribute the submission, including text and illustrations, and any ancillary material, in a manner the PHC deems appropriate. 

I understand that my submission may be eligible for appearance at the Polish Heritage Center Newsletter if selected, but that no further compensation of any kind will be paid by the PHC or any of its authorized third parties to use, reproduce, prepare derivative works, publish, distribute, perform publicly and/or display publicly the submission, any ancillary material, or student information, image or voice as provided for in this agreement.   I hereby unconditionally release the PHC , its employees, and board members from any and all claims and demands arising out of the activities authorized under this agreement.

 I certify I am at least 18 years of age and have read the foregoing Official Rules and fully understand and agree to the contents. 

 

 

The Polish Heritage Center Polish History Art Contest

 Permission Slip Notice to parents/legal guardians of children under the age of 18:

We are collecting the information in this form for the purpose of obtaining your consent. We want to collect the personal information below from your child, and your consent is required for the collection, use, and disclosure of the personal information. The information below may be disclosed to the public through The Polish Heritage Center website, Newsletter, or in The Karnes Countywide Newspaper, to your school; to the sponsors of the contest, and The Polish Heritage Center. To give your consent to the collection, disclosure, and use of your child’s information, please complete and sign this form and give it to your school’s representative along with your child’s entry. The school representative will submit the form and entry. If you don’t consent within a reasonable time, we will delete your information from our records.
